This necklace was inspired by the Helmetti August theme challenge. The theme for this month were children, and has thus far produced lovely jewelry. Not having any of the sort yet, I found some unexpected inspiration in the Finnish national epic, Kalevala, whose last poem describes the virgin Marjatta conceiving by eating a lingonberry.  It's been claimed to be a modification of the conception of Jesus - a virginal birth story that made sense to the pagan Finns at a time when "God" was a very novel and abstract idea, indeed.

Lingonberries is made out of  5.5mm off-round cheapo granates, ready-made chain and other sterling silver parts, and a 1.5mm olive green greek leather cord.

I added a very simple bracelet that can accompany this necklace and also any now and future one that incorporates granates.
